PREPARATION

Humana Electrolyte should not be dissolved in a higher concentration than recommended. Dissolve the contents of one sachet (6.25 g powder) in 250 ml freshly boiled water or heated Humana Baby Water or in 250 ml tea (e.g. camomile or fennel tea) and drink warm or cold in small amounts.

Amount for drinking and quantities

Quantity and length of treatment in accordance with medical directions, otherwise Humana recommends the following procedure in the first six to twelve hours:

• Months 1–3: 50–100 ml/kg body weight; approx. 200–600 ml divided between 3–8 bottles
• Months 4–5: 50–100 ml/kg body weight; approx. 300–700 ml divided between 3–8 bottles
• Months 6–12: 50–100 ml/kg body weight; approx. 375–1200 ml divided between 3–8 bottles
• toddlers and school children: 50–150 ml/kg body weight approx. 2–8 200 ml bottles or cups
• adults: 20–40 ml/kg body weight

If the child is seriously ill the solution should be administered at short intervals and in small quantities if its condition is critical and in case of vomiting for example. Make sure the child is getting enough liquids (unsweetened fennel, camomile or rosehip tea) – please do not give the child any drinks containing carbohydrates. important notice

Humana Electrolyte is suitable for treating infant dyspepsia (diarrhoea in infancy) – only as part of medical treatment. Humana Electrolyte has also proven effective as treatment for diarrhoea in children and adults.
Is used to offset loss of minerals and fluids quickly in case of diarrhoea (oral rehydration therapy).
May not be used in case of kidney disease, diminished blood acid base balance, uncontrollable vomiting, shock, a reduced state of consciousness and diabetes mellitus.
